Advanced Optics expanding its Asia business

At the CIOE exhibition in Shenzhen, Advanced Optics presented an ultra-light-weighted ZERODUR® mirror as well as different glass types and components

Major eye-catcher at the booth was the large, ultra-light-weighted mirror of ZERODUR® with a diameter of 1.2 m. The material is ideal for use in astronomy and satellite applications. Since 1968, SCHOTT has been the world’s number one supplier of this high-performing glass ceramic, recently adding two new versions to offer even tighter CTE’s (coefficient of thermal expansion): ZERODUR® SPECIAL and ZERODUR® EXTREME.

Advanced Optics also announced at the show that, in response to growing market demand, it will soon be offering from stock a range of the most common high homogeneity glasses up to level H4 that can then be used to manufacture cut blanks. Such high-quality glasses, offered up to level H5, enable extremely high-resolution imaging and are ideally suited for use in high-performance laser technology as well as in measurement, semiconductor and satellite technology. Advanced Optics delivers all products with an individual test report produced using a special interferometer.

Attending this trade show for more than 10 years now, Advanced Optics has adopted CIOE as an important pillar of its communication with customers and other players of the industry. “We continuously generate high-quality leads and expand existing relationships at this exhibition so it has received a stable place in our Asia Sales strategy”, confirmed Gregor Grosse, Vice President Sales Asia. SCHOTT also won this year’s “CIOE outstanding contribution award” for its impact in the optical industry.

In addition to giving a technical presentation on ZERODUR® at the show, Simon Phay, Sales Manager Advanced Optics from SCHOTT Singapore, also introduced the Business Unit’s products and know-how of the industry to journalists at a press meeting in Shenzhen. Albert Chen, Managing Director of SCHOTT China, was also present to offer information about the development of SCHOTT’s overall business in the country.
