History

In 1974, SCHOTT Glass Malaysia was established in Penang to serve the developing optics market in Southeast Asia. Being in close proximity to important customers gives the company the opportunity to be more responsive to the changing needs of the market.
Serving both the precision and consumer segments of the optics market, SCHOTT Glass Malaysia molds optical blanks (lenses, prisms, etc …) using only high grade glass from a range of more than 200 glass types sourced primarily from SCHOTT, the parent company in Germany, and SCHOTT North America, Inc, a sister company in the USA.

Products and Applications

SCHOTT Glass Malaysia is a leading manufacturer of molded optical blanks and prisms. In addition to pressings, value-added products such as milled pieces, cut filters, polished filters, heat-tempered filters can also be supplied.
Applications cover the entire field of optics and opto-electronics:
- Optical lens blanks for the instrument business, with the final end-users in laboratories, scientific applications and the health industry;
- Optical lens blanks and prism blanks for consumer applications, IT and opto-electronic applications such as digital and PC cameras, projection TV, scanners, photocopy machines and LCD projectors.
