SCHOTT Demonstrates “Eye-Safe” Laser Glass at Photonics West
ELMSFORD, N.Y. and SAN FRANCISCO – February 5, 2013.— SCHOTT will demonstrate its “eye-safe” laser glass components at SPIE Photonics West 2013 in San Francisco on Feb. 2-7, 2013 at booth #1600. Both LG910 and LG940 glasses are ideal for defense, medical, and telecommunications applications. They can be tailored to customer specifications and are supplied as fully finished components, simplifying the supply chain and ensuring that the final performance of the glass meets or exceeds customer specifications.
SCHOTT’s laser glasses emit in the infrared near 1.54 μm, ideal for “eye-safe” operation of laser rangefinders, laser target designation systems, cosmetic laser treatments in dermatology, and more. SCHOTT provides the option for fully finished components, which are available in rods, slabs, and other complex formats and are customized to a particular wavelength and absorption spectrum for diode pumped or flash lamp pumped systems. Doping levels, depending on cavity geometry, power levels and pumping methods, can be optimized to customers’ specific requirements. SCHOTT cost-effectively produces both prototype and high-volume quantities. Consistent materials properties, polishing processes, and high quality coating processes result in reliable high damage threshold coatings, ideal for demanding pulsed and CW applications
In addition to laser glass, SCHOTT also manufactures mirrors, lenses, polarizers, and other optical components to provide customers with a single source for active laser glass and complementary components, ensuring SCHOTT quality and value throughout the entire system.
