SCHOTT Defense Showcases Materials for Optics, Laser, Imaging Applications
SCHOTT will highlight advances in laser and multispectral glasses in a paper presentation, workshop, and product demonstration
SCHOTT Defense will exhibit its innovations in military-application glass and optics technologies at SPIE Defense, Security, and Sensing (DSS) 2014 in Baltimore from May 6-8, 2014 at booth 925. In addition, SCHOTT will present technical papers on new laser and infrared materials for defense products.
Many of these components and systems will be on display at the SCHOTT Defense booth (925), including a free space optical (FSO) communication system, redundant, high thru-put datacom fiber, glass-to-metal-seals, BOROFLOAT® floated borosilicate, infrared glasses and materials, multispectral and laser glasses, and ZERODUR® glass-ceramic, among others. SCHOTT’s highly durable glass and glass-ceramics are key components in a wide range of military equipment, including tactical wheeled military vehicle armor, night vision systems, directed energy programs, and sensitive ordnance and missile systems.
SCHOTT research scientists and experts will present SCHOTT’s next-generation glass technologies, and highlight the company’s products through paper presentations and a product demonstration:
Laser technology for defense and security: Tuesday, May 6 from 10:40 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Infrared Technology and Applications XL: Tuesday, May 6 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
IRG product demo: Thursday, May 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
“SCHOTT has been the leading supplier of advanced and high-performance glass technologies to the U.S. defense market for more than 40 years, and the recent creation of SCHOTT Defense as a federally focused subsidiary now allows us to strengthen our commitment to defense and the goals of the U.S. military,” said Major General (Ret.) Scott Custer, USAF, President and CEO of SCHOTT Defense. “DSS is a prime opportunity to showcase SCHOTT Defense’s industry-leading glass technologies, with a specific focus on our multispectral glasses, which offer new design possibilities for advanced imaging systems, including night vision, surveillance systems, targeting systems, and infrared sensors. This is just one way we’re supporting the defense community’s mission to cost-effectively reduce the size, weight, and power of military technology.”
SPIE DSS brings together leading researchers and engineers to showcase optics, lasers, sensors, infrared devices, imaging systems, and optoelectronics for defense and security applications.
