SCHOTT to present the versatility of specialty glass at glasstec
The international technology group and specialty glass expert SCHOTT will be presenting its innovations at glasstec in Dusseldorf again this year. The leading international trade fair on glass is being held under the motto “intelligent glass” and will focus on thin glass technology among other topics. With its ultra-thin glass, even on a roll, SCHOTT offers a high-performance material for innovative applications in various industries. The company based in Mainz, Germany, will also be showing many other types of flat glass – from striking architectural glass to design-oriented toughened glasses for kitchens or vehicle cabins, high-performance flat glass-ceramics for industrial applications, or thin, lightweight, highly scratchproof specialty glass for smartphones and more. SCHOTT Defense Showcases Innovation at AUSA with Armor and Glass Technologies
SCHOTT to feature transparent armor windows, multispectral glass, and other glass advances critical to defense applications at the 2014 AUSA Annual Meeting and Exhibition
SCHOTT Defense will exhibit its range of glass technologies and materials at the Association of the United States Army's (AUSA) Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington, D.C. from Oct. 13 to 15, 2014 at booth #1309. The products on display will include RESISTAN® transparent armor windows, which are currently protecting the Armed Forces using the MRAP all-terrain vehicle (M-ATV) and also support the protection of next-generation tactical vehicles programs such as the Ground Mobility Vehicle (GMV) and Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV). In addition, SCHOTT will feature multispectral glasses that can help Soldiers maintain situational awareness while reducing the size, weight, and cost of imaging systems as well as other components critical to defense applications. SCHOTT IRG Line Now Available on Zemax and CODE V for Optical Design
Optical designers can now access SCHOTT’s line of IRG products in major design software

The Advanced Optics Division of SCHOTT North America, Inc., a global manufacturer of high-quality optical components for the infrared (IR) industry, including its chalcogenide glass products, today announced that the newly renamed IRG product line (formally the IG product line) will be available on Zemax and CODE V®, two major brands of optical design software. SCHOTT IRG will be featured in the next release of the Zemax catalog file and Zemax OpticsStudio and has been updated in the 10.6 release of CODE V’s software.

SCHOTT introduces BG6x HT Blue Glass filters with significantly higher transmittance in the visible spectrum
Successful introduction of BG6x filters: leading international smartphone manufacturers rely on SCHOTT quality
The international technology company SCHOTT has expanded its portfolio of standard BG6x Blue Glass filters and is now introducing BG6x HT high transmission blue glass filters with improved performance. The new filter variants offer an excellent transmission profile for high quality digital camera applications: significantly higher transmission in the visible spectrum by up to 2 percentage points at 0.21 mm material thickness while still providing high blocking in the IR range. SCHOTT’s new BG6x HT filters are therefore well-suited for photography in challenging light conditions. SCHOTT N-FK58: New optical glass with extremely low dispersion and outstanding processing properties
Various glasses with low dispersion in refractive index level 0.5 now available
With its optical glass called N-FK58 XLD (XLD = extremely low dispersion), the international technology group SCHOTT has now launched a high-quality type of glass that offers extremely low dispersion and excellent processing characteristics. This glass is intended for use in the high-quality lenses of single-lens reflex cameras in which apochromatic color aberration correction is a mandatory feature. N-FK58 offers particularly high performance in combination with anomalous dispersion glasses such as the short flint glasses SCHOTT supplies. The company, which specializes in specialty glass, offers a wide variety of optical glasses with low dispersion in the refractive index level 0.5. The international technology group and specialty glass expert SCHOTT is now offering a wide range of coated materials for laser applications. Thanks to improvements of the coating capabilities at its site in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland, the company is able to offer improved coated active glass devices as well as passive components made from materials such as SCHOTT N-BK7® and FK5 optical glasses, as well as fused silica, filter glass, and ZERODUR® glass-ceramic. Now, a coating is available with a higher laser damage threshold, which is relevant for the development of next-generation laser technology in various fields.
