Edge treatment, drilling and cutouts

Following cutting, the sharp edges normally undergo further processing to guarantee safe handling in subsequent processes and to achieve the precision dimensions required by the customer. If, after installation, the glass edges remain visible, they generally undergo grinding or polishing. In addition to the decorative aspect of edge processing, glass stiffness is also affected by the mechanical and thermal stresses from the type of edge processing used. Drill holes, apertures and cutouts can also be made using the special diamond tools used for edge processing.
