and has embodied this commitment through numerous initiatives such as
the “Children Make Music” with Justus Frantz project in Germany and the
“United Way Campaign” in the US.

SCHOTT has for many years been a pioneer in the international glass industry in terms of environmental and climate protection. SCHOTT places its main emphasis on reducing the consumption of energy and resources as well as the emissions from glass production, and additionally aims to produce environmentally friendly products. Examples of this are the SCHOTT Solar products and solutions for alternative energy production and the world’s only glass-ceramic CERAN® without toxic heavy metals.

Sports clubs, factory orchestras, and day-care center all help to bolster and sustain
worker motivation. In 2007 SCHOTT in Mainz (Germany) was awarded the “Career
and family” certificate.

At SCHOTT, corporate social responsibility
also means subsidizing scientific research
and institutions of higher learning. These
efforts are embodied by the granting of
fellowships by the Heinrich J. Klein foundation and the awarding of the Otto Schott research prize. SCHOTT manifests
its corporate responsibility and at the
same time helps develop talent for the
future by sponsoring programs that promote
scientific research activities on the
part of school children.
