The West Coast Regional Sales Manager is responsible for developing an on-grid, solar photovoltaic market for SCHOTT Solar, Inc. throughout the Western United States and Western Part of Canada including identifying, developing and maintaining both new and existing customer relationships and managing sales. The position involves the following major duties: •Maintaining relationships with existing customers.•Identifying and developing new customers and establishing customer product requirements. •Formulating a sales strategy (customer segmentation and sales approach). •Managing sales of solar markets throughout defined Western United States and Western Part of Canada including monitoring and evaluation of products, applications, regulatory environment, competition, pricing, and customers. •Preparing and achieving annual regional sales plans and maintaining rolling monthly sales forecasts by product and customer for the specific region. •Preparing pricing quotes, contracts, operating and sales orders. •Acting as liaison between customers and Marketing department for marketing communication activities to include advertising, trade shows, public relations, collateral materials, co-operative marketing, web site, etc. •Participating in local and regional trade shows and conferences by way of lead generation, market evaluation and customer networking. •Supporting customers’ trade show efforts through co-op marketing programs. •Developing and maintaining an industry network. This position will require 80% domestic and international travel.
Qualifications include an MBA with BS in technical discipline including physics or electrical or mechanical engineering and 2-3 years sales and business and strategy experience in downstream solar, renewable energy or energy services fields; experience working for a European or American MNC in a matrix structure; strong understanding of US solar market and sales channels; having an established network in solar industry preferred. The successful candidate will have excellent presentation and communications skills. He or she will have the ability to work in teams and effectively communicate across cultures and at all levels of organizations. He or she will be a team player with strong interpersonal and leadership skills; analytical and problem-solving ability; be self-motivated, independent, results-oriented with performance- and business-driven mindset; have strong knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes); willingness to travel extensively.
