10-21-2008, SCHOTT North America, Inc. SCHOTT launches new DNA microarray slide for the “home-brew” slide market |
October 21, 2008 ( San Diego, CA) – SCHOTT will launch its latest generation of aminosilane microarray slides called Nexterion® Slide AStar at the Discovery2Diagnostics Conference & Exhibition in San Diego, CA on October 21, 2008.
Aminosilane coated slides remain the most popular choice for printing cDNA and oligonucleotides, despite the recent emergence of three-dimensional microarray surfaces. The new aminosilane coating is the result of two years of research at the SCHOTT microarray R&D facility in Jena, Germany. It is available on single slide or multi-well formats. Comparison studies with other products available on the market show that the Nexterion® Slide AStar surface produces the highest signal-to-background ratios.
Andrew Hemingway, Sales Manager for Special Float Glass Products in North America, commented on the new slide, “Despite many microarray users moving to commercially printed DNA arrays, a significant part of the home-brew market is still printing onto aminosilane slides. To better address their needs, we developed our new ‘high performance’ aminosilane coating to be fully compatible with standard slide processing protocols.”
SCHOTT is offering free 5-slide evaluation packs to customers interested in testing the new Nexterion® Slide AStar.
