SCHOTT Unveils Next-Generation Fiber Optic Image Bundles and Medical Cables for Endoscopy at FIME
Upgrading to image bundles will improve resolution and quality. New medical cables feature superior light transmission and longevity.
SCHOTT North America, the leading experts in fiber optic lighting, imaging components, and custom LED solutions, will exhibit the next generation of SCHOTT fiber optic image bundles for use in small diameter endoscopes at the FIME trade show in Miami at booth 1710. In addition, SCHOTT will unveil its new medical light guide cables, produced solely with the company’s lead-free, eco-friendly PURAVIS® glass fibers.
SCHOTT image bundles are flexible, coherent image guides used for transmitting optical images. Made of fused multifiber rods comprised of a large number of clad glass fiber elements, these bundles can be used in endoscopes for medical, veterinary, and industrial applications when combined with custom optics.
Compared to SCHOTT’s original fiber series, this next generation of fiber optic image bundles offers a larger active area, higher resolution, superior image quality, and a special moisture barrier, each of which is crucial when transmitting images from the body for medical purposes.
“Medical practitioners must have access to the newest and best technologies in order to continually improve the examination and treatment of patients,” said Vijay Shanbhag, Medical Sales Manager, Lighting + Imaging Division, SCHOTT North America, Inc. “Our improved image bundles and medical light guide cables are just the latest development in our mission to improve patient outcomes by meeting and exceeding the medical industry’s challenging standards.”
At FIME, SCHOTT will also introduce its improved medical light guide cables, which are now exclusively manufactured using SCHOTT’s PURAVIS® fibers in place of the original standard fibers. PURAVIS® fibers offer outstanding transmission of white light, as well as superior longevity achieved by improved autoclavability, chemical stability, and low solarization. The pure white light allows illuminated objects to retain their natural color, ensuring greater visibility. In addition, the environmentally friendly PURAVIS® manufacturing process avoids the use of the toxic heavy metals arsenic and antimony.
