The sustainable and consequent engagement in the development of SCHOTT CERAN
® has been awarded with the
German innovation award 2010 in the Large Enterprises category for innovations in the areas of product development, manufacturing and marketing. In 2011, SCHOTT is also nominated for the
German Sustainability Award 2011 . For its eco-friendly glass ceramic cooktop, it is recognized as one of the TOP 3 most sustainable products and services in Germany
Compared with other glass-ceramic cooktops, SCHOTT CERAN® lasts longer, thanks to its high temperature resistance. This property allows the cooktop to be kept in consumer’s kitchens.
The newly patented melting process eliminates the use of the toxic heavy metals arsenic and antimony. This process allows for the removal of 180 tons of these materials per year, which would typically be needed to manufacture the glass-ceramic.
Everyday, SCHOTT invests in extensive research and development to make our production processes as environmentally friendly as possible: about 45% of all pending patents from SCHOTT CERAN® focus on ecological issues.
SCHOTT CERAN® is primarily composed of natural raw materials, like quartz sand, that are virtually inexhaustible. With the product’s unique composition of materials, SCHOTT is already meeting future ecological standards.
SCHOTT is proud to announce that we have been working on a way to provide not only a top quality glass-ceramic, but also one that respects the environment. Because we understand preserving the environment not only begins when a product is in use: it starts with engineering and the use of resources. That way we are proving our ecological commitment and taking environmentally responsible actions through the entire product life cycle.
