| Jena, Germany, January 13, 2006 - SCHOTT Nexterion has added a 96-well microplate format with a standard SBS footprint to its line of microarraying substrates. The SCHOTT Nexterion® MTP-96 utilizing an innovative three-part system that overcomes the limitations caused by recessed wells of conventional glass bottom microplates. The absence of well rims means that the Nexterion® MTP is compatible with all microplate arrayers, and significantly reduces printing time compared to conventional plates. In addition, microarrays of over 1,000 features may be printed into each MTP-96 well.
Nexterion® MTP-96 is initially available with either a functional coating (Epoxy or Aminosilane) or as uncoated glass for custom applications. The two Nexterion® functional coatings represent the most commonly used surfaces for DNA and protein microarraying. These high performance coatings are identical to the standard Nexterion® single and MPX multi-well slides, allowing assays to be easily transferred to the high throughput microtiter plate format.
The Nexterion® MTP-96 is designed to be a flexible system, and is available as a complete microtiter plate kit or as individual kit components. The MTP-96 system consists of three main components: a high quality, patterned borosilicate glass plate, a 96 well self-adhesive superstructure and the SBS compliant plate holder. The ultra flat glass printing plate has a high optical transmission, and low auto-fluorescence permitting high signal to noise ratios during fluorescence imaging. The MTP glass plate easily detaches from the microtiter plate holder for printing and scanning flexibility. The Nexterion® MTP-96 demonstrates high levels of inter- and intra-well reproducibility. Cross contamination between wells during hybridization or interaction/ binding assays is eliminated through the combined use of the hydrophobic well patterning and the self-adhesive 96 well superstructure.
