Randomizing

The fiber arrangement within a light guide and/or end ferrule normally occurs arbitrarily during the manufacturing process. For certain applications it can be useful to arrange the fibers in either a randomized or specific pattern. For example, in the case of multibranch light guides, the fibers from the individual branches can be randomized in the common end so that they evenly distribute the light output to each branch. The graphic shows several examples of these patterns.
