The Lighting and Imaging Business Unit
The SCHOTT Lighting and Imaging group is a world leader in the design, engineering, manufacturing and selling of state-of-the-art fiber optic and LED imaging and lighting components, systems and sub-systems.
Our competencies including fiber drawing, fusing and finishing provide the backbone for Lighting and Imaging to provide our customers with a one-stop-shop for custom or standard fiber optics for just about any market. Our LED knowledge and state-of-the-art lighting products utilizing both LED and fiber optic technologies create unique opportunities for SCHOTT to provide comprehensive lighting solutions for any customer.
Our core markets include medical, cosmetics, industrial, machine vision, defense and security, aviation, rail and automotive.
In 2008, SCHOTT acquired 70.8% of the shares in Moritex Corporation, Japan’s leading manufacturer of lighting systems based on LED and fiber optic technology, as well as optical imaging systems for industrial image processing (“machine vision”). The technology platforms at MORITEX and SCHOTT complement each other in an ideal manner. The relationship between the two companies – SCHOTT with its strong presence in Europe and the United States and MORITEX with its strong presence in Asia - will provide customers across the globe an ultimate solution provider.
