“Number one in five years”
solutions: Mr. Richards, why are architects now specifying Pyran® Platinum in construction projects, like the Godley Intermediate School?
Richards: Schools are highly concerned about safety. Glazing must not only offer fire protection, but also has to be impact resistant in order to prevent the types of injuries that have frequently occurred in schools. In terms of these aspects, the respective customer was not satisfied with the performance of the low-priced, non-ceramic materials, such as wired glass, and therefore ordered laminated Pyran® Platinum glass-ceramic. This premium product not only meets the highest code requirements, but also offers the best combination of appearance, performance and price that is currently available.
solutions: How successful do you feel this glass-ceramic will be on the North American market?
Richards: Since we began offering this product in April of 2009, the demand has been growing. And this will continue. After all, construction projects usually take a long time to be realized. Five years from now, I expect Pyran® Platinum to be the number one among glass-ceramics for fire protection in North America. <|
