Slide Type Recommendations
|
A full range of functional coating chemistries for DNA and protein microarraying
is available. The following table indicates the appropriate slide type for your specific microarray application.
|
| Probe Type | Product
| Comments |
| Oligonucleotides | Nexterion Slide E
Nexterion Slide H | First choice for all oligo types
Alternatively for short amino-modified oligos (size ≤ 25 mers) |
| cDNA/PCR | Nexterion Slide A/A+
Nexterion Slide E
Nexterion Slide AL | First choice when not changing established amino protocol
Alternatively when changing established amino protocol
Alternatively for amino-modified cDNA / PCR probes |
| Peptides | Nexterion Slide H
Nexterion Slide AL | First choice due to increased loading capacity
Alternatively for robust peptide probes |
| Antibodies, Proteins | Nexterion Slide H | Optimal preservation of protein structure and functionality |
| Cells/Tissues | Nexterion Slide H | Optimal environment for cells and tissues |
|
Packaging
|
SCHOTT Nexterion coated slides are packaged in stable plastic boxes
(5- or 25-slide boxes), which are sealed in protective foil pouches under inert atmosphere.
The specially developed material of the slide boxes minimizes out-gassing of plasticizer and therefore maintains the slide coating properties.
The special packaging protects the slides from damage due to breakage
and external contamination. It also offers protection from the adverse effects of light and humidity during transportation and long-term storage.
|
Barcoding
|
SCHOTT Nexterion coated slides are also available with a barcode. The special laser etched barcode is compatible with commercial automated
hybridization stations and is robust enough to withstand standard hybridization and washing procedures.
The barcodes are readable with all common microarray scanners.
|
Dimensions
|
All blank and coated slides are available in the following
standard format:
75.6 mm x 25.0 mm (± 100 µm)
Thickness: 1.0 mm (± 50 µm)
|
 |
The chemically reactive and homogeneous
spotting area is defined for an area of 72 x 22 mm
for slides without a barcode and 64 x 22 mm for
slides with a barcode.
|
Flatness
|
Flatness:
≤ 50 µm
SCHOTT Nexterion defines “flatness” as the accumulated overall possible
thickness deviation. This includes warp, intra-slide thickness deviation, and inter-slide thickness tolerance.
