For the majority of applications, the optical and internal properties are decisive and are therefore explicitly specified as follows:
Optical properties:
Refractive index with tolerances
Abbe value with tolerances
Refractive index homogeneity
Internal transmission and color code
Internal properties:
Striae
Bubbles and inclusions
Stress birefringence
Usually it is sufficient to specify only the optical and internal properties.
However, for some applications the chemical, mechanical or thermal properties might be additionally relevant.
A detailed description of the properties is listed in our
technical information and in the
“Optical Glass” catalog .
