Materials & Technologies
Years of experience in glass technology guarantee the high quality of SCHOTT glass tubing. SCHOTT glass tubes are made of highly resistant borosilicate Type I glass of the highest hydrolytic resistance, and maintain exceptionally tight tolerances in diameter and thickness, resulting in high quality products required for fast filling equipment.
High chemical resistance
Small tolerances for optimal automatic processing
|
Glass-like containers made of an advanced cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) of the highest purity are a creative solution for drug delivery and diagnostics, setting standards in precision, drug compatibility and barrier properties. COCs are amorphous thermoplastics which, because of their special chemical and physical properties, are particularly suited to manufacture primary packaging for the pharmaceutical industry.
Break resistant and light weight
Transparent with glass-like appearance
No ion or heavy metal release
Different sterilization methods possible
High degree of design flexibility
Tested in accordance with EP,JP and USP Class VI (DMF 12132)

A glass inlet sheathed in an outer layer of thermoplastic polymer guarantees chemical stability as well as breakage protection and mechanical strength. The polymer jacket can be supplied in any translucent or opaque color.

Technologies
|
SCHOTT Type I plus® coating technology
|
SCHOTT Type I plus® drastically reduces chemical interaction between your product and the glass container. SCHOTT Type I plus® containers are made of pharmaceutical Type I glass with a chemically bonded, invisible, ultrathin layer of pure SiO2 on their inner surface. As a result, loss of active component due to adsorption, degradation, etc. is significantly reduced. The container can be washed, depyrogenated, filled and sterilized.
We recommend this technology for new drug developments.

Camera Inspection Technology
|
SCHOTT forma vitrum uses a unique in-house developed camera inspection technology. It assures constant high quality, judging all criteria exactly the same way, 24 hours a day, lot after lot. Each container is inspected inside, as well as outside, from top to bottom, for critical, major, minor and dimensional defects.
The SCHOTT forma vitrum visual technology is able to differentiate between a specific kind of defect as well as defect sizes. Criteria can be individually selected. Our high-end TopLine products are checked with the visual system to detect even the slightest deficiencies.
