Just a few years ago, the most widely used solar installations were not linked to the grid. Particularly in rural areas, PV solar energy is often the only means of generating power efficiently. Today, installations isolated from the grid provide the poorer regions of the world with electricity - essential for education and a reasonable standard of living.
