The headquarters of SCHOTT Solar GmbH in Bavarian Alzenau (near Frankfurt/Main). Development and production of crystalline solar cells. Sales office for Europe, Asia and Africa for cells, modules, systems & building integration. In 1979 photovoltaic development, initially of thin film technologies, was started within NUKEM. Later crystalline silicon solar cells and large cast resin modules were developed and put into pilot production. 1998 commissioning of the solar cell production for crystalline solar cells. 2002 commissioning of the SmartSolarFab® (fully integrated production of wafers, cells and modules) and the foundation of RWE SCHOTT Solar GmbH. Since end of 2005, SCHOTT AG is the sole shareholder in the company that will now be trading under the name SCHOTT Solar GmbH.
