Crystalline SCHOTT EFG™ solar modules
The wafers, the starting material for the EFG™ cell, are produced using SCHOTT Solar GmbH's internationally patented EFG™ (Edge-defined Film-fed Growth) method
|
In the EFG™ process, an octagonal tube is pulled directly from the silicon melt, contrary to the common Si-ingot sawing technique.
|
This 6-meter-long silicon tube has a wall-thickness of 330 µm ub conformity with the thickness of the later cells. A laser cuts the tube into 125 mm x 125 mm wafers.
Module assembly companies world-wide have used EFG™-Cells since 1981. Since that time, EFG™ cells have performed with sustained reliability energy production under extreme climatic conditions in modules up to 300 Wp.
|
Characteristics of the SCHOTT Solar EFG™-Cell:
|
- Performance in Modules:
-long duration electrical performance stability
-high light spectrum sensitivity and energy output
-high current output due to fine finger desing (high conductance with reduced shadowing)
-least power deviation of modules ensured by precise matching of cells, sorted 100% in narrow current classes at constant test voltage
- Application in Modules:
-Cell suitable for lead free soldering
-Reliabe stringing due to easily solderable low resistance busbars on the front side and 8 large solder pads on the back side
-Front surface compatible with all commercially applied photovoltaic encapsulants due to proprietary Silicon Nitride AR Coating
- Appearance:
-Distinctive look in modules due to uniformly dark blue shiny appearance
