The up-draw process developed exclusively by SCHOTT is used at our site in Grünenplan to produce thin glasses and ultra clear flat glasses as well as numerous processed glasses. During this process, a ribbon of glass is pulled up from the bottom, moving across various drums and through the cooling track.
Advanced Optics uses this process to produce ultra clear B 270® i glass, among others.
Main characteristics of the up-draw process
- Fire-polished surface with a superior surface roughness of < 0.5 nm
- Broad thickness spectrum of 0.9 mm – 10 mm
- High flexibility in regards to output and width
