Manufacturing Engineer II

Our Business Unit Pharmaceutical Systems is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of pharmaceutical primary packaging and analytical lab services. More than 600 production lines in 13 countries worldwide produce more than 10 billion syringes, vials, ampoules, cartridges and special articles of tubing glass or polymer.

Your tasks

The Manufacturing Engineer II will be responsible for proposing, leading, planning, directing and implementing major projects involving technical systems. Projects include continuous improvement, product introduction, risk management, process development, and design and installation of equipment. The chosen candidate will also assist in innovation, design, and process development serving as the plant's key contact and manufacturing expert. Duties include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Lead process mapping and continuous improvement activities of the production line. Provide statistical analysis processes.
  • Participate in engineering/production functions to achieve overall objectives of the plant.
  • Provide engineering activities regarding the innovation, design, purchase, fabrication, installation, start-up, and validation of production machinery and processes.
  • Establish operating procedures and maintenance requirements for equipment, systems, and processes. 
  • Lead experimental and validation protocols for equipment, processes, and materials. 
  • Support product portfolio activities including technical feasibility, specification changes and introduction of products. 
  • Instruct and train employees per established guidelines and maintains good manufacturing practices.
  • Propose projects for cost reductions, feasibility studies, facility layout, and equipment modifications. Scope and define projects to meet cost, quality and performance requirements. 
  • Define and develop control strategies and systems for automated manufacturing equipment.
  • May supervise Engineering Technicians and Manufacturing Engineer I.
  • Apply lean methodology to the job and follow cGMP.

Your profile

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, or Materials engineering or equivalent required.
  • 3-5 years of Mechanical or Process Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Advanced degree, Six Sigma green belt or black belt certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with CAD and statistical software (Minitab). AutoCAD experience required.
  • Additional leadership training preferred.
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
  • Well-organized and team-oriented.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively and accurately deliver results in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to translate theoretical knowledge to practical applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to pass required Manufacturing Engineer II certification.
  • Flexible to work on call hours and to flex work schedule, as required.
  • Some international travel required.
