Global Lean Champion

Our Business Unit Lighting and Imaging offers challenging lighting and image transmission solutions for applications in the markets of automotive, aviation, medical devices, as well as industrial and safety engineering. With production units in Europe, North-America and the worldwide SCHOTT sales organization Lighting and Imaging is a leading supplier for fiber optic components.

Your tasks

The Global Lean Manager will be responsible for preparing and updating the Lean roadmap in close cooperation with all our sites and Head of Global Operations. He defines Lean measures based on the Lean roadmap and will lead, promote, and motivate employees on Lean manufacturing together with the Lean managers, through Lean games, best practices, personnel development and training measures, and active communication through internal media platforms (plant information boards, SCHOTT World, etc.). Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborates with BU Head, Lean managers and the site manager on corrective actions in cases of deviations from set activities.
  • Plans, implements and directs Lean projects and kaizen workshops.
  • Prepares and conducts Lean trainings (e.g. basics Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Cooperates and enforces interactive experience/information exchanges with other BU Lean Managers.
  • Supports the team of Global Operational Excellence with pilot projects and will be responsible for coordinating all corresponding activities.
  • Informs site management, Lean managers and the BU line about the status and progress of the Lean management efforts and activities on site and BU Lean projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Your profile

  • Degree (studies) in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in Lean Transformation, especially in the field of production, logistic or maintenance
  • Several years of experience in leadership, project management and manufacturing costs analysis, preferable as Head of Production or Supply Chain Manager.
  • A distinctive identification with the Lean principle is required.
  • Excellent command of the English language, preferable knowledge in german is a plus
  • Structured working style.
  • Communicative leadership style and assertive.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Distinctive social competence.
  • Open-minded towards change.
  • Expertise in process stability and optimization (e.g. Six-Sigma, PSO Black Level).
  • Willing to travel and to stay in Germany and abroad for the first 6 months to get in touch with the organization
