SCHOTT Debuts All-Glass Chiller Door System to Expand Viewing Area and Drastically Cut Energy Consumption

SCHOTT Termofrost® AGD 3, Polaris® LED systems offer highest quality, energy-efficiency, and reliability
SCHOTT North America will unveil its new SCHOTT Termofrost® AGD 3 all-glass door system for refrigeration cases in U.S. stores at the 2014 National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) Show in Las Vegas, held between October 7 and 10. SCHOTT has recognized the benefits of combining German engineering with American manufacturing to produce the highest quality product. SCHOTT’s Vincennes, Indiana facility fulfills that goal for the Termofrost AGD 3 and other systems through a one-piece manufacturing product flow that ensures quality checks throughout production. SCHOTT will display its entire line of refrigerator glass door systems at NACS at booth #6579.

The North American market has been limited in its selection of all-glass door technology. SCHOTT’s entrance into the market will offer more energy efficient choices that provide greater visibility for chillers. First introduced in Europe, the Termofrost AGD 3, combined with its new Denali French door system, has no metal frame or border, providing a larger merchandise viewing area with energy-free doors that don’t require a heating system.

These doors can reduce energy consumption by 60 percent over open refrigeration cabinets and their slim design offers a better view of food products. Termofrost AGD 3’s design and composition are well suited to grocery stores looking to retrofit open cold cases to better conserve energy by maintaining temperature control.

SCHOTT will also introduce its next-generation Polaris® LED lighting systems at NACS. This advanced LED technology, produced using new manufacturing methods, has a longer lifetime and improves energy efficiency by eliminating the need for power regulators. In addition, the sleek new appearance allows for various configuration options that fulfill all lighting requirements. New Polaris LED technology will provide efficiency in excess of 100 lumens per watt (LPW), and will provide more than 100,000 hours of illumination, significantly more than current technology, which offers just 88,000 hours. As a result, Polaris, which is U.S. Department of Energy compliant, can help lower electric bills and recoup its investment cost within 12 months.

“SCHOTT’s commitment to quality and energy reduction is the driving focus of our efforts,” said Martin Doyle, SCHOTT Director of Food Display Sales. “The Termofrost AGD 3 and our new Polaris LED technology are just two examples of SCHOTT’s commitment to the North American market. Our Vincennes facility is constantly streamlining its manufacturing process by bringing SCHOTT’s best-in-class manufacturing from across Asia and Europe to the U.S. as we enter a new era of superior glass products.”

SCHOTT’s new one-piece flow manufacturing system builds quality checks into the process rather than the inspection at the end of the line. This production cycle ensures that only the highest quality glass door systems come off the line during every production cycle, and achieves a more reliable and repeatable process for delivering better products.
