Opaque glass-ceramic with light-blocking properties: SCHOTT NEXTREMA® opaque grey (712-8)

The opaque grey material type is a top-quality glass-ceramic used in countless applications. It is the strongest heat-insulator out of all NEXTREMA® types. This is down to its low overall transmission in the IR spectrum. Opaque grey also boasts enormous heat resistance: it can withstand up to 950 °C. This light-blocking glass-ceramic is a high-quality material used in all areas of industrial production – in display manufacturing for example. It is also used in applications where the transmission of radiation in visible light and IR spectrum is to be kept to a minimum. Other key areas of application include for instance heating appliances and microwaves. This opaque glass-ceramic can also serve as a decorative element in product design.
