SCHOTT’s DURAN® YOUTILITY Wins IDEA Silver Award
The DURAN Group was awarded the Silver IDEA in the competition organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) for the revolutionary YOUTILITY Laboratory Bottle System. This is the third design award won by DURAN® YOUTILITY, which also earned the Red Dot and International Forum (iF) Design awards.
The IDEA program is regarded as one of the foremost design competitions in America, with its scope and influence reaching far beyond the U.S. For the 2014 competition there were more than 2,000 entries, and the new DURAN® YOUTILITY laboratory bottle system, entered in the medical and scientific products category, was one of just 58 products to be awarded silver.
The jury evaluated the entries on aspects of industrial design excellence that included innovation, benefits to the user, sustainability, and the design’s visual appeal. The DURAN® YOUTILITY system excelled in many of these aspects and represents a new generation of user-friendly glass laboratory bottles. The ergonomically shaped glass bottles of the YOUTILITY system incorporate many new innovative features to improve handling, labelling, sample identification, and ease of use, making laboratory work easier and safer.
IDSA will formally award 2014 IDEA winners at the 2014 International Conference in Austin, Tex. at the Austin Hilton on Aug. 13, 2014. The 176 winners, along with the other 514 finalists, were published on IDSA.org.
