Emerging optical diagnostic applications in life science and biotech increasingly incorporate fluorescent markers to visualize the presence of specimen particles and artifacts. The microfluidic components – used in genome sequencing or pharmaceutical research for example – demand high optical requirements of the substrate material. Thus, high physical, chemical and optical quality are necessary to reduce lab error caused by background fluorescence or improper cleaning.
SCHOTTs’ new glass substrate D 263® bio meets these challenges. The biocompatible substrate offers a very low autofluorescence homogeneously across its entire transmission range.
